Question

Why communication error occurs during CX-Programmer get online with Programmable Controller?



Answer

Possible cause to be checked as follows:


1. Power Management is to be set disabled at BIOS setting.


RS-232C is activated by the power from DC-DC converter sourced at 5vdc at Personal Computer.


Notebook type Personal Computer default setting is disable DC-DC converter in order to maximize the battery life.


When COM port is used, power management has to be disabled.


2. Power management at Windows control panel is to be set power is always supplied.


3. Set not to use Active Desktop function.

Active desktop function use overlay memory and CPU load is consumed.


4. Disable Screen saver.

RS232C operation may be delayed when screen saving starts.


5. No virus check software runs.

The latest virus check software always checks the data from serial port. This may cause timeout.
