Faster Processing of Frequently Used Special Instructions

 

Based on analysis of user applications, hardware support is provided for approximately 20 of the most frequently used instructions (out of over 400 instructions total) to further speed up processing. These instructions include the following:

  • CPS (SIGNED BINARY COMPARE)

  • CPSL (DOUBLE SIGNED BINARY COMPARE)

  • XFER (BLOCK TRANSFER)

Parallel Program Execution and Peripheral Servicing in Parallel Processing Mode

 

A mode is provided for parallel processing of program execution and peripheral servicing. Executing peripheral servicing in parallel with program execution has approximately doubled the response of peripheral servicing, enabling the following types of application.

 

Large amounts of data can be rapidly exchanged with the host without dependence on the program size in the CPU Unit.

 

Data can be refreshed smoothly, with uniform timing for data exchanges with SCADA software. There will be no effect on cycle time in the event of future expansions even if communications are increased or if the network is expanded.

 

With parallel processing mode, approximately 1/2 the response time of conventional model.

Task programs provide increased efficiency for programs that are developed by multiple  programmers or divided by function. The number of tasks that can be executed as cyclic tasks has been expanded from 32 to 288.

Built-in Flash Memory in All Models

 

Battery-free Operation with Flash Memory

 

When the user program or data in the parameter areas is transferred to the CPU Unit, it is now automatically backed up in the flash memory built into the CPU Unit. At startup, this data is automatically restored from the flash memory to the operating memory, enabling battery-free operation without a Memory Card.

An Instruction for Essentially Every Application

 

Conversion between Floating-point Decimal and Character String Data

 

Floating point decimal numbers can be easily converted to ASCII character string data for display on a PT. The data can be displayed in the PT’s character string display objects.

High-resolution Approximation Supported

 

High-resolution line approximations can be generated for operations such as converting from a level measurement in mm to tank capacity in liters according to the shape of the tank. (The line data can be unsigned16-bit binary/BCD, signed 16/32-bit binary data, or single-precision floating-point decimal data.)

PID with Autotuning

 

PID constants can be autotuned automatically using the PID WITH AUTOTUNING instruction. A 
limit cycle is used for tuning, so the tuning is completed quickly. This is particularly
